Restrained music
From candle-lit chambers
Resides in withering ladies
Of eighty
Who carry it inside themselves
Carefully,
All measured and timed
Like polonaises and sarabands.

What about the old lady
With bowed fingers
And white hair
Sitting alone across the aisle
Smiling over to
The music of cello
Harpsicord and flutes?
