For Thomas Eakins
A racing scull, if viewed from afar,
head-on across water
plying upstream
is oars
stretching out over water
reflecting tiny flashes
of wooden sunlight
out from a torsoed form
Of head and back
skimming on water
bending forward and back again
in constant, measured
rhythmic motion.
A racing scull,
heading towards you
if viewed from afar,
is oars
stretched out over water
from a torso
and head
reflecting tiny flashes
of wooden sunlight
skimming on water
bending forward and back
thrusting
a narrow form
in which they sit
ever closer
in constant, measured
rhythmic motion.
Under Construction.
Please come back.
