Septembermorgen

Im Nebel ruhet noch die Welt,
Noch traeumen Wald und Wiesen:
Bald siehst du, wenn der Schleier faellt,
Den blauen Himmel unverstellt,
Herbstkraeftig die gedaempfte Welt
In warmem Golde fliessen.

Eduard Moerike  1827

September Morning

In morning mist the world rests,
Woods and fields go on dreaming:
Soon you will see, when the veil falls,
The blue heaven in all its splendor,
And a world in bold autumn colors
Streaming forth in molten gold.
